Precise GPS or domestic, or neither?
I wonder if someone can give me some suggestions, if I have a GPS with topographic maps, or lake ot nothing. I look forward to puchasing a GPS for hiking and camping and road use. What would you suggest. As it is I look forward to to purchase either a Garmin or a Garmin Colorado, Oregan. Suggestions? What I need is something easy to operate as a single source. I have so before mounting the GPS on my bike well declined use for hiking, walking, etc. This is the reason why I have over the Oregan or Colorado
You have the choice of a Garmin, which is good. But I would skip the Colorado / Oregon series. These units are not well designed. My sister has an Oregon, and I think the thing is garbage. The screen is very hard to read, the GPS reception is lousy, and it drinks like a fish out batteries. I have started to one eTrex Legend, which was good, and now have a 60Cx, what a wonderful device. I would like to get something similar, with the topographic and road maps. The inland lake maps for boating. And if They have problems, Garmin's tech support is the best on the planet. Seriously. I have never seen people who work so hard to help me. Edit: Colorado / Oregon series claims to be good for a one-handed operation, but not really. And you will not be able to read on the screen at all in the sun.
